  1. Sami Weddings

In a traditional Sami wedding, also known as a Lapp wedding, the bride and groom wear garments called "gakti". The gatki is a very colorful garment of clothing most typically made of red, blue, and yellow fabrics. On top of gatki, the bride wears a crown, broach, and jewelry made of silver symbolizing beauty. The groom wears a white scarf made of silk to symbolize his readiness to get married. If a Sami wedding is to be held in the winter, reindeer fur is put over the garments.

Weddings are held in the churches that the Sami worship at. Weddings are typically very busy, as usually up to 200 people or more attend.
